Since I've started hunting, I'm seen two groups of hunters - those that routinely use scent blockers and those that don't care for them.

Things To Consider When Choosing Scent Blocking Gear

When it comes to scent blocking equipment, you're most likely going to find one of the following materials being used:  zeolite, engineered polymers, activated carbon or antimicrobial silver.

After hours of research, I couldn't find any evidence that supports one being better than the other. They all have their different pros and cons, and eliminate scent in a variety of ways.

From my perspective, if you're scent blocking technology has one of these, you're in a good spot.

Pro Tip: Try to keep your hunting coolers outside at night before you fill them up with ice to get their core temperature down.

Preparation Time

When choosing your scent protection tool, you need to understand how quickly the product will take affect. 

For instance, most ozone generators will eliminate scent in about an hour or so if your gear is efficiently enclosed in a bag or mobile closet.

On the other side, and after contacting a few companies, I found out most scent blocking sprays will successfully eliminate scent in about 30-45 minutes.

These minerals do not however stop the scent (bacteria and molecules) from being produced. They are engineered to act quickly to eliminate them before a wary deer is able to detect anything.
