There are few pieces of hunting gear that are as important as your boots. The right hunting boots are important for seasoned hunters and complete beginners alike. From the support they offer, while hiking through rough terrain to the warmth they can provide during colder temperatures, you won’t last very long on any hunt if you aren’t using high-quality boots.
But with so many different brands and styles of hunting boots out on the hunting market, it can be a little tricky to pick the right one. To help you out, we’re going to look at two major players in this space: Crispi and Kenetrek. Having thoroughly tested both brands out on the field and on multiple hunts, we’ll go over the good, the bad, and the ugly of both brands of boots and compare them side by side.
So before you decide on a new pair of hunting boots for your next outdoor adventure, let’s dive into all the hype surrounding Crispi and Kenetrek!
Fun Fact: Crispi Sport was created in a small laboratory based in Venato Italy by Alessandro Marcolin.
Let’s’ begin by taking a look at both brands, starting with Crispi. Crispi is an Italian company that has been in the boot game for over 40 years. They focus on making some of the most comfortable, durable, and versatile boots for hunters, climbers, and outdoor enthusiasts. As hunting became more and more popular, they began to create boots designed solely for every type of hunter and their needs.
From their Gore-Tex lining to provide excellent waterproof protection to the Vibram soles for top-tier grip and traction in all types of terrain, Crispi hunting boots can go anywhere and do just about anything. One of the greatest things about Crispi is that they offer a huge lineup of different boots, so you are sure to find one that fits all of your needs.
My first impression of Crispi boots was just how comfortable they were straight out of the box. There has been zero break-in required for any of my new Crispi boots, regardless of what style or model I have tried. From the overall comfort and wide selection to their ability to keep my feet warm and dry, Crispi boots are hard to beat.
Now let’s look at Kenetrek. Kenetrek is an American brand that specializes in tough, high-performance hunting boots that can handle any mountain hunting. These types of hunting boots are famous for their durability and toughness, especially thanks to their thick leather construction. While Kenetrek may not have as many boot models and options as Crispi, they figured out what works in a hunting boot and have perfected the process of making it.
Most Kenetrek boots will boast the same thick leather construction, reinforced toe and heel, and a stiffer sole for added stability and support for those steep mountain hunts. Of course, you also get Gore-Tex lining and added insulation in order to keep your feet warm and dry in wet or colder weather.
My first impression of Kenetreks was their size and weight. While a little beefier than other hunting boots I had used in the past, I was immediately impressed with the overall quality. That has held true still to this day, as my Kenetrek boots have been the longest-lasting hunting boots I’ve ever owned!
So which boots are better? While I can’t tell you which one is definitely better than the other, I do have an answer for you depending on what you’re looking for. As someone who regularly wears both boots, each brand has its own pros and cons to consider when making a decision.
Crispi is a great option for someone who wants plenty of options in hunting boots. I own several different pairs of Crispi boots that vary in weight, insulation, and sole stiffness. This allows me to choose the best pair of boots for the hiking that I will be doing in specific situations. You can find extremely lightweight boots made with the lightest materials all the way to heavy, insulated boots that will keep you warm in a blizzard.
On the other hand, I feel as though Kenetrek produces boots that will appeal to a very specific kind of outdoorsman: the mountain hunter. With stiffer soles and full leather construction, these boots are virtually bombproof and you can take them anywhere. And while my Crispi boots have been extremely durable, I’d have to give the slight edge to Kenetrek for overall durability and toughness.
When comparing other options, Crispi boots are a lot more comfortable out of the box and do not typically require any type of break-in. Kenetreks will usually need plenty of wear before they are fully broken in. As far as pricing goes, both companies are neck and neck depending on the exact boot models you choose to go for.
So if you value choices and comfort, I’d suggest sticking with Crispi. If you value rugged durability and stiff hunting boots, go with Kenetrek. Either way, I suggest actually trying on both brands in order to see which one fits your feet the best!
Both Crispi and Kenetrek make some excellent hunting boots. There is no clear-cut winner between the two, with both providing their own unique set of benefits. The choice will come down to your own personal needs and preferences. Think about the materials, design, fit, and durability when it comes to choosing new hunting boots, and don’t forget to try them on first.
Regardless of which one you choose, investing in a pair of hunting boots from either one of these amazing companies is well worth the money. Plus, they will help keep you safe and comfortable on your next hunting adventure! So which will you choose?
Good write up and reviews of both. Thank you as I am in the research phase of finding a new boot for this fall hunting season. I appreciate your thoughts on both brands and find them helpful. One item that should be mentioned. Although Kenetrek is an American company, it should be noted their boots are made in Italy as stated on their website.
Don’t have crispi my kenetreks took a bit of time to break in but are comfortable after two years. I have foot issues. Thus I have several sets of name brand boots that were comfortable out of the box but after a couple weeks of wear were unacceptably uncomfortable. Unfortunately to much wear to return. I may try some crispis but don’t want to add to my collection of closet boots.
